Background: We have lived with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) for several months. We have learned that COVID‐19 is remarkably infectious, even when not causing symptoms, that congregate living situations invite rapid spread, and that frail older adults are at the highest risk of death. Nursing home residents have experienced at least one‐third of U.S. COVID‐19 deaths up to mid‐May 2020.
