Background: Each fall, medical schools and hospitals open their doors to new groups of trainees who are eager to learn. It is one of my favorite times of the year as the anticipation and excitement is palpable. I remember my first day of medical school vividly and similarly recall when I settled on my career choice. Driven by my experience in watching my maternal grandparents receive disjointed care, both in and out of the hospital, I decided to pursue a career in Geriatric Medicine. I knew that I wanted to serve this vulnerable population who needed healthcare professionals who would not only “see them” but also provide them with care in a coordinated, collaborative way.
